Cambodia and Australia Conduct the Fourth Senior Officials' Consultation in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, April 5, 2024: The Kingdom of Cambodia and Australia successfully held their fourth Senior Officials' Consultation in Phnom Penh on the morning of April 4, 2024. The meeting was co-chaired by Prak Nguon Hong, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and Michelle Chan, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia. The event saw the participation of representatives from relevant ministries and institutions from Cambodia and the Australian Embassy in Cambodia.

During this high-level consultation, both sides reviewed and discussed cooperation across various sectors, including agriculture, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, communication between people, security, defense, and development cooperation. There was a mutual expression of satisfaction and appreciation for the outcomes of their longstanding relationship, which dates back to the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1952. Both countries agreed to further enhance their cooperation for the mutual benefit of their nations.

In addition to bilateral discussions, the consultation also covered regional cooperation and international issues of mutual interest. It was agreed that the 5th Cambodia-Australia Senior Officials' Consultation will take place in Australia in 2025, continuing the tradition of productive dialogue and collaboration between the two countries.
